ANRA CHAMPIONSHIP 2005 FINALS.
November 1st & 2nd - Famoso Dragstrip Bakersfield
A few club members participated in the 2025 ANRA Championship, some relatively new to racing, others long-time veterans, but all sharing one thing in common: they lined up on the track behind the wheel of an Oldsmobile. The weekend of November 1st and 2nd marked the final runs of the 2025 season, and it was time for the club to head to the famous Famoso Dragstrip in Bakersfield to cheer them on!
This was the club’s first official outing to the Famoso Dragstrip. The strip is located several miles north of Bakersfield, surrounded by citrus and almond groves. Several members made the drive on Saturday morning for what turned out to be a wonderful and friendly club reunion. Since everyone was coming from different parts of the Los Angeles Basin, no caravan or convoy was organized, but we all managed to arrive that morning.
It had been decided beforehand that Grant and Karon’s RV/paddock would serve as the meeting spot for the reunion. Finding them among dozens of RVs wasn’t difficult. Grant had raised a white Oldsmobile flag, standing out perfectly against the deep blue Southern California sky. That weekend, Grant and Karon, Ryan, Kevin, and Joe (who had already left due to mechanical issues) were racing in the ANRA season finale. In total, four club members’ cars (minus Joe’s) were parked around the trailers and campground: Grant’s 1971 442, Ryan’s 1976 442, Kevin’s 1968 442, and Joe’s 1966 442.
